Redazione- In occasione della Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo 2025, al Berklee College of Music di Boston, si è tenuto un concerto promosso dal Ministero degli Affari Esteri Italiano, di cui pubblichiamo il video.
L’evento ha visto protagonista Stefano Marchese, con la Band Scanzonati, il quale ha presentato e portato sul palco Padre Guglielmo Alimonti e la sua poesia in canto “Per te vivo”, sulle note di Cinzia Ambrosini, interpretato da Joey Blake assieme agli Studenti del Berklee College of Music.

On the occasion of the Week of the Italian Language in the World 2025, a concert promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. The event featured Stefano Marchese with the Scanzonati Band who presented and brought to the stage Father Guglielmo Alimonti and his singing poem “Per te vivo”, on the notes of Cinzia Ambrosini, interpreted by Joey Blake together with the students of the Berklee College of Music.

Chi sono i protagonisti dell’evento? Innanzi tutto, Padre Guglielmo Alimonti. Chi non conosce Padre Guglielmo?
Padre Guglielmo Alimonti è un frate francescano, sacerdote da tantissimi anni della Basilica della Madonna dei Sette Dolori in Pescara. Nasce a Guardiagrele nel lontano 17 ottobre 1929 con il nome di Alessandro da Nicolangelo e Gentile Salvatore. Viene ordinato sacerdote il 25 luglio 1956. Dopo diversi anni trascorsi con incarichi pastorali di assistenza spirituale agli operai delle fabbriche e all’Ordine Francescano Secolare è suo desiderio recarsi in missione in America Latina. L’incontro con Padre Pio cambia tutta la sua esistenza.
È Padre Pio stesso ad indicargli la sede della missione nella città di Pescara, in Abruzzo: “Stai lì e prega per me”. E a Pescara nel 1977 inizia la sua testimonianza su Padre Pio e comincia a fondare i primi Gruppi di Preghiera.
Figlio spirituale di San Pio da Pietrelcina, a cui è stato legato da profondissimo affetto, continua la propria quotidiana e instancabile missione con le celebrazioni mattutine cui la sua folta Comunità assiste fedelmente da anni. Studioso attento e infaticabile, ha scritto moltissime opere, fra cui tantissime poesie, raccolte in vari volumi. Le sue omelie e catechesi sono ricche di riflessioni teologiche profonde che disvelano il senso della vita e il messaggio evangelico e francescano.

Who are the protagonists of the event? First of all, Father Guglielmo Alimonti. Who doesn’t know Father Guglielmo?
Father Guglielmo Alimonti is a Franciscan friar, a priest for many years of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows in Pescara. He was born in Guardiagrele on October 17, 1929 with the name of Alessandro da Nicolangelo and Gentile Salvatore. He was ordained a priest on 25 July 1956. After several years spent with pastoral assignments of spiritual assistance to factory workers and the Secular Franciscan Order, it is his desire to go on mission to Latin America. The meeting with Fr. Pio changed his whole existence. It was Padre Pio himself who indicated to him the headquarters of the mission in the city of Pescara, in Abruzzo: “Stay there and pray for me”. And in Pescara in 1977 he began his testimony on Padre Pio and began to found the first Padre Pio Prayer Groups. Spiritual son of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, to whom he was bound by deep affection, he continues his mission and tireless daily testimony with the morning celebrations that his Community has faithfully attended for years. An attentive and tireless scholar, he wrote many works, including poems, collected in various volumes. Stefano Marchese è un cantautore italiano pluripremiato. Ha collaborato con i Grammy Awards, Bobby McFerrin e Luis Enrique, tra gli altri. Joey Blake è una star internazionale di livello mondiale, cantante, polistrumentista, compositore, danzatore e direttore di coro, dal 1989 collaboratore e fondatore con Bobby McFerrin della VOICESTRA; insegnante presso la Jazz School di Berkeley. E’ un cantante dallo stile inconfondibile, fluido quanto unico, ricco di talento. Nel 1994 con David Worm fonda i SoVoSo, (Oakland, USA), gruppo a cappella che fonde jazz, gospel, world music, R&B. Insegna canto contemporaneo ai corsi propedeutici dello Oakland College; è Direttore musicale della Golden Gate Academy di Oakland, CA; ha insegnato Canto a cappella alla Berkeley Jazz School, CA; affianca Bobby Mc Ferrin per i corsi estivi di specializzazione dell’Omega Institute di Rhinebeck, NY; ha diretto le clinics di canto di Umbria Jazz; è attualmente Associate Professor presso la facoltà del Berkeley College of Music di Boston, MA. Joey Blake is a world-class international star, singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, dancer and choir director, since 1989 collaborator and founder with Bobby McFerrin of VOICESTRA; teacher at the Jazz School of Berkeley. He is a singer with an unmistakable style, as fluid as it is unique, full of talent. In 1994 with David Worm he founded SoVoSo, (Oakland, USA), an a cappella group that blends jazz, gospel, world music, R&B. He teaches contemporary singing at the preparatory courses of Oakland College; he is Music Director of the Golden Gate Academy in Oakland, CA; he taught a cappella singing at the Berkeley Jazz School, CA; he joined Bobby Mc Ferrin for the summer specialization courses of the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY; he directed the singing clinics of Umbria Jazz; is currently an Associate Professor on the faculty of Berkeley College of Music in Boston, MA. The artist is joined by a European guest star on the Hammond organ: Otto Von Grass, and the prestigious choir directed by Paola Mei: the Quincy Blue Choir, as well as a robust rhythm section of established Italian professionals.
